In 1958, Floyd Redman purchased the property as an engagement gift for his wife, Lillian, and they continued to operate the motel for several decades. Lillian Redman became a beloved figure in the community, known for her dedication to the motel and its guests.

The Blue Swallow Motel was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993, recognizing its significance as a well-preserved example of Route 66-era architecture.
